He said he wants to "look over the agreement." He's just biding his time so he can play another game or two. Noone likes to be rushed. Think he wants to deal with a "training camp" if you can even call it that, he's been playing for 3 months.

Yeah I agree why come home and practice with people trying to just get their legs back when he already has almost half a season under his belt he is ready to go and that's good news for us.

For the sake of argument...what exactly would happen if he refused to return? Would his contract be off our books and off the cap? Would he be unsignable in the NHL by any team? And wouldn't there be a huge lawsuit for breach of contract?

Not sure what his KHL contract is worth but im sure he's doing just fine. And that "agreement" didnt seem to stop Nabokov from doing what he wanted a few years back.. It only means something if the KHL is willing to inforce it, but why would they?

I think the Devils would have to toll his contract, so every year he does not play another year gets added on to his deal. Bascially if he ever came back to the NHL it would be with the Devils. Between Visnosky and now Kovy, what asses. You guys signed deal, now honor them or guess what...you have to retire.

Everyone is blowing this whole thing way out of proportion. So the guy wants to play a last couple of games with his KHL team he's captaining? Training camp won't start until at least Saturday, he'll be back by then.

you could void his contract without it counting as a buyout.

It would suck to lose him, but that could be a nice parting gift

These things always get overblown in translation. He might stay in Russia if he was going into one of those 1 million a year deals but not this year.

I think there's a roster exemption or something. Whatever the Preds did with what's his face. They don't pay him and he is still under contract and on the Devils if he comes back.

The only way guys like ovechkin and Kovalchuk were staying in the KHL was if the league didn't honor the contracts that they signed for length and terms...i didn't hear anything in the lockout about voiding existing contracts, just new contracts going forward. They're coming back...

Thank you, finally someone can take a breath and understand that this is being blown out of proportion.

I read that the islanders will expolre a few option about visnovsky, they either want the trade reversed or they are thinking about voiding his contract. I just assumed that the devils would think about voiding Kovy's deal if he were to stay in the KHL. He's coming back though..
